December Destination -- Romania

Okay guys, our December destination is Romania! I see that everyone (myself included) missed out on making a Colombian dish for November but hopefully that was just because November was an extra busy month and we can find some time this month to try a Romanian dish.

Post about your Romanian dish any time this month and check-in any time before December 30th, I hope we get some travelers this month :) Whether or not you are able to participate, I would like to thank those of you still along with us for MKMW and wish you all a wonderful holiday season!

Happy cooking,
Andrea

Colombia

Our November destination is Colombia! Do you know Colombian cuisine? Have you ever been there? Have you found any great links to some Colombian recipes? Here's the place to share, just leave a comment and we can talk about what we are making for MKMW -- Colombia.

After you have posted your Colombian dish, please leave a comment here with a link to your post by November 30th (you can post and comment any time during the month) for our MKMW -- Colombia round-up.

Germany Round-up and November Destination

I'm so glad we had a couple of participants this past month! Your German inspired dishes look great, here is our round-up...

First off, Rosa at Cooking with Rosie, who happens to live in Germany, made Bavarian Obatzter, a cheesy pub food that sounds like a delicious appetizer or snack.

Next up, Joanna at In Search of Lost Time made Choucroute garni, a German inspired French dish with sauerkraut, apples, and smoky meats, looks wonderful! I have to say thanks to Joanna for suggesting we 'visit' Germany again this October, what a great MKMW tradition to start :)

Over at Nummy Kitchen, I made a simple German Apple Cake that was chock full of apples from a recent trip to the orchard. I had a great time getting back to MKMW, and hope everyone else did as well!

For November, our randomly selected country is... Colombia! Tomorrow I will start a post where we can discuss the cuisine of Colombia and post links to possible Colombian dishes to try, another great idea from Joanna, thank you.

MKMW October -- Germany

MKMW has been pretty quiet the past few months, but earlier this week Joanna commented that she still wanted to participate with MKMW and suggested we do Germany for October like we did last year to celebrate Octoberfest! I think a lot of us still want to have fun with MKMW and this was such a great idea to get everyone cooking again, thanks Joanna.

The official Oktoberfest ended on October 4th but I know there are still lots of parties going all throughout the month featuring delicious German dishes and drinks. If you would like to participate, please post a German dish or meal for MKMW and leave a comment here with a link to your post.

I'm planning a MKMW Germany round-up on Nov. 1st (if we get some participation :) ) and maybe we could do one country a month to make My Kitchen My World easier to remember. I hope to see some old MKMW friends participating and want to welcome anyone else who would like to cook and 'travel' along with us! If you have any country suggestions, please let me know.

Take care,
Andrea

Please comment here with a link to your MKMW Germany post by October 31st, thanks!

September Destinations!

Hello travelers,
So sorry for not updating MKMW this summer, now that September is here I thought we'd better start over for the month. We only had one participant in July for the Bahamas and Ukraine so I figured if anyone wants to take September and catch up by making a recipe from those countries please feel free to and I'll do a big round-up at the end of the month featuring all four countries.

Our first country for September is...

South Africa

check-in date September 12th

next up is

Mongolia

check-in date September 26th

Once again, I'm really sorry for not updating since July, things just got extra busy for me this summer and blogging had to take a little break, and since almost everyone hadn't participated in MKMW for a while I thought you guys probably were needing a break too. I hope that we can get some of our members posting again and keep traveling through food together :)

Can't wait to see what you can come up with for South Africa and Mongolia!

Thanks,

Andrea

Macedonia Round-up and Bahamas Check-in!

Welcome to the My Kitchen My World -- Macedonia round-up!

We have three dishes to share for MKMW Macedonia, first up we have Ajvar, a vegetable spread which also makes a delicious sounding pasta sauce. Check out small pieces of inspiration and accomplishment for the recipe and to find out a couple different uses for this versatile dish.

Over at
Nummy Kitchen, I made little Macedonian Breads, which turned out to be like mini pitas, I guess if Judy and I had gotten our dishes together we would have had a perfect Macedonian meal :)

What a fun little round-up for Macedonia, thanks for participating!

Our current MKMW destination is The Bahamas! Check-in day was supposed to be yesterday, but we spent the day at Lake Michigan for my birthday and didn't get home until very late so I didn't have time to post, sorry! Not quite the Bahamas but still a fun little day at the beach.

Please leave a comment in this post with a link to your post for MKMW The Bahamas, feel free to post and comment all week long, the round-up should be up next Saturday, so try to check-in here by Friday night. Thanks so much for cooking along, I can't wait to see what Bahamian foods everyone can come up with!

First up we have Christine at Kits Chow with a delicious looking dish -- Chicken 65 -- a spicy chicken nugget appetizer that is popular in Pakistan and India.

Next up is a new traveler from small pieces of inspiration and accomplishment, who made Seekh Kebab and Naan on the barbecue, yum!

Also cooking along with us is Judy at Judy's Gross Eats, who made a delicious Potato Curry with Peas and Carrots and another Pakistani dish that was so delicious that there wasn't even enough time to photograph it before it disappeared :)

We have another new traveler with us for Pakistan, Seemie of Erbe in cucina made yummy looking Coriander Pakoras made with chickpea flour and coriander seeds and a delicious yogurt dipping sauce.

Over at Nummy Kitchen I made a delicious Pakistani vegetable dish and flat breads.

And now the moment you've all been waiting for, the randomly selected countries for June are...

Switzerland

and

I was thinking about our posting dates, and now that we've switched to two countries a month to make it a little easier for people to participate, I think it would be nice to open up posting to whenever you can during that two weeks before check-in date.

Mexico Round-up

Time for our Mexico round-up! What a wonderful variety of Mexican dishes to share...

Stephanie at Fun Foods On a Budget found her old Mexican cookbook and made a few days worth of dishes out of this challenge, including Pollo Aguascalientes, Sopa Ranchera, and Leche Quemada con Frutas for dessert, doesn't that sound delicious? We're glad to have you back, Stephanie :)

Joanna at In Search of Lost Time made a yummy looking Use-it-up Enchilada Casserole which included corn tortillas, rice, beans, corn, and a few other Mexican style ingredients. Sounds like a delicious way to 'use-it-up' to me!

Natashya at Living in the Kitchen with Puppies made an amazing Black Bean Soup for Two, topped with cilantro, tomatoes, and a slice of lime, and if you think it can't get any better than that, she also served some Mango Margaritas, party at Natashya's house :)

Judy at this made Red Chile Chicken and Rice with Black Beans (Arroz Rojo con Pollo y Frijoles Negros) from a new Mexican cookbook she is 'auditioning' and is now on her 'to buy' list, thanks to this delicious dish. Being a Native New Mexican, Judy always has Mexican style food near the top of her favorites list, so it's nice to know that this recipe passed her taste test!

Over in Germany, Rosa from Cooking with Rosie gave us a tutorial on making flour tortillas, complete with lots of tips and great step-by-step photos, looks like Rosa has the tortilla recipe and technique down "flat" :)

Over at Nummy Kitchen I made a big dish of baked bean and cheese burritos, one of our favorite Mexican style recipes with a few new twists, I made homemade enchilada sauce, and used Chihuahua Mexican cheese, yum!

I think Christine at Kits Chow made a Tortilla Soup, but I don't see it up on her website yet. Christine, if you get your soup posted, let me know and I will add it to the round-up :)

Thank you to everyone for participating in My Kitchen My World -- Mexico! Imagine if we had a MKMW pot-luck and had all of this yummy Mexican food to share, wouldn't that be fun?

Our next country, Pakistan, might be a little tricky, so get your 'cooking caps' on and find something new to try -- or if you have an old favorite Pakistani recipe, share that! Posting day for Pakistan is Saturday, May 23rd. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

If you are new to this site, and thinking of cooking along with us as we travel the world, just jump right in and make a dish for My Kitchen My World -- Pakistan, and check in on the 23rd :)

Happy travels,
Andrea

Turkey Round-up and May Countries Announced

Good morning My Kitchen My World friends,

We had a very nice turn-out for My Kitchen My World -- Turkey, here is our round-up...

Lauren at I'll Eat You made a delicious looking dinner of some Mucver, zucchini fritters with yogurt dipping sauce and a tomato salad, yum!

Joanna at In Search of Lost Time made a feast of flat bread, baba ghanoush, and chicken schwarma which she describes as a heavily spiced, Middle-Eastern take on gyros, sounds wonderful to me!

Colleen at As Is Proper made a dish of Turkish Noodles and Meatballs, served with mini pitas, hummus, and salad greens, which she called a totally kid friendly, fun, Turkish meal. Sounds like it was a bit hit for her family!

Christine at Kits Chow made Zerde, a Turkish Saffron Rice Pudding perfumed with Rose Water, which looks absolutely delicious served in those pretty little cups. She also has some very interesting history on the dish and on the Turkish Festival of Sweets on her site, doesn't that sound like fun?

Rosabela at Cooking with Rosie made a bulger dish called Kisir, which introduced her to a new ingredient. What a beautiful lunch!

Also from Rosa, we have Cucumber Soup with Garlic Shrimp over basmati rice, which she made for our last trip, My Kitchen My World -- Guatemala. Looks like a lunch from a fine restaurant, mmm!

Finishing off our round-up, over at Nummy Kitchen I made a delicious Turkish Rice Pilaf with Eggplant and Pistachios, which had some surprising ingredient combinations that worked well together in the end.

And now for the moment you've all been waiting for (right?)...

For the month of May, My Kitchen My World will be "visiting" Mexico -- posting day Saturday, May 9th. Lauren and I thought it would be fun to revisit Mexico to go along with Cinco de Mayo this month.

And our second country for the month, randomly selected -- Pakistan! Posting day for Pakistan will be Saturday, May 23rd. Get on your thinking caps, or should I say cooking caps, and find a Pakistani recipe or two to try.

Thanks for cooking along with us, I can't wait to see the dishes everyone comes up with for Mexico and Pakistan :)

Happy travels,
Andrea

Our wonderful co-host Lauren at I'll Eat You made a flavorful Flank Steak Currasco and Guatemalan Beans.
